What if the output connectors are overloaded or shorted repeatedly by the end user? What should be the interval of short circuit?

If the power supply is over-loaded beyond the overload protection limit, it will into the protection mode i.e. output voltage will fold back and go into auto recovery (hicc-up mode).

Typically there is no defined time for short circuit intervals but we do not expect the user to short circuit the power supply regularly or at short intervals unless it is due to system error or malfunction. Even so, the power supply unit will still be protected.
